FIELD: experimental determination of critical values of compressing medium for examination of specimens under laboratory conditions. SUBSTANCE: installation for buckling test has lower and upper supports for placement of specimen, plate carrying two guides on which two cross-pieces are put, power exciter in which capacity lead shots fed through window with gate closed by electromagnet into lower intake vessel from upper vessel located on upper cross- piece are used. Microswitch whose rod breaks power supply circuit while intake vessel with power exciter is lowered on it when gravitational force of intake vessel with power exciter achieves value of longitudinal load critical for specimen is placed in series of supply circuit of electromagnet. Given invention allows smooth change of longitudinal force loading specimen to be provided and as result accuracy of determination of critical value of longitudinal load of specimen in wide dynamic range to be raised.
