FIELD: agricultural engineering; irrigation of hay fields and pasture lands.
SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method watertight guard and ice holes are made in winter in previously chosen place across river. Said watertight guard is essentially ice dam formed by gradually made trench in ice. First depth of trench is such that layer of ice from its bottom to surface of water should be about 5 cm. After thickening of ice under said layer trench is deepened again and, proceeding as stated above, deepening of trench is carried out until ice dam at river banks reaches the bottom and water starts flowing through ice holes made upstream.
EFFECT: reduced cost and labor input when building ice dam, provision of icing on hay fields and pasture lands.
