FIELD: optical recording and reproducing systems. SUBSTANCE: proposed system is used for displacing carriage unit from initial to end position relative to data medium rotating at peripheral speed. It depends for its operation on determining first radial distance between initial position and center of medium, second radial distance between end position and center of medium, peripheral distance between initial and end positions, initial peripheral speed of medium, as well as computing speed trajectory including first radial distance, second radial distance, peripheral distance, and initial peripheral speed, as well as movement of carriage unit from initial to end position conceptually according to speed trajectory obtained. Speed trajectory is computed so as to ensure that carriage unit moved radially and over circumference to end position within actually the same time. In addition, final peripheral speed can be found and medium rotation can be varied between initial and final peripheral speed; moreover, speed trajectory may include final peripheral speed.
