FIELD: ultrasonic flaw detection and acoustoelectronics. SUBSTANCE: transducer designed for use as broadband sensor of various modes in ultrasonic flaw detection and as filter or resonator in acoustoelectronics has sound conductor whose effective surface is covered with magnetostrictive component, means for building up magnetic field whose variable component is directed along sound-conductor axis, and means for producing constant component of magnetic field. Magnetostrictive component is built of polycrystalline particles whose sizes d are chosen between d1 = c : (2 x f1) and d2 = c : (2 x f2), where f1 is maximum frequency of ultrasonic oscillation spectrum; f2 is minimum frequency of ultrasonic oscillation spectrum; c is propagation speed of ultrasonic oscillations in magnetostrictive material. Particle size distribution curve fully coincides in form with amplitude-frequency response characteristic of transducer.
