FIELD: technical physics. SUBSTANCE: method involves measurement of temperature alternation using M = T/d+1 measurements in N points, where T is time of measurements, dT is time between measurements. Velocity is calculated using equation v = L/τ0, where L is distance between test points, τ0 is time shift which corresponds to maximal amplitude-frequency response of two arbitrary processes of same type, in other words temperature alternation in two test points. τ0 and direction of velocity vector and disturbance shape in gas or liquid flow are calculated using phase-frequency characteristic. Time shift τ0 conforms to equation τ0= θxy(f0)/2π•f0,, where f0 is frequency of maximal amplitude-frequency response, θxy(f0) is value of function of phase-frequency characteristic for frequency f0. EFFECT: increased functional capabilities. 3 dwg
