FIELD: seismology. SUBSTANCE: given method can be used for geophysical investigations and allows presence of hydrocarbon fields on deflecting level to be effectively registered . Vibration signals with various similar frequencies are simultaneously generated into geological medium. One of signals is monofrequency signal and frequency of one or more other signals is changed smoothly. Reflected signals are received, waves with combination ( summary or difference ) frequencies are isolated and used to evaluate nonlinearity of medium. Parameters of correlation signal are chosen from condition of isolation of wave with combination frequencies. Source of seismic vibrations has two or more radiation plates as minimum. Vibration exciter is attached to frame on which plate with rod of vibration exciter being passed through is also fixed. One of radiation plates is hinged to rod and the rest are hinge-jointed to proper column jointed to plate. EFFECT: simplified design of source, enhanced efficiency of method and guaranteed kinematic independence of plates. 5 cl, 2 dwg
