METHOD OF RHODIUM (II) CARBOXYLATE PRODUCING Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: chemistry of inorganic compounds, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention describes a method of producing rhodium (II) carboxylates by heating rhodium (III) trichloride hydrate in the mixture of concentrated carboxylic acid and an organic solvent in the presence of the same acid under atmosphere of chemically inert gas. Method involves the use of aprotonic polar solvent taken among the order including dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide, hexamethylphosphorustriamide; dialkylammonium carboxylate as a solution in concentrated aliphatic carboxylic acid is used as salt in the mole ratio of dialkylammonium carboxylate to rhodium trichloride hydrate = 3: 1, not less. Reaction mixture is heated at 85-130 C for 0.2 h, not less, the mixture is kept in refrigerator up to complete precipitate formation. Precipitate is separated, washed out with acetone, dried under vacuum, dry precipitate is treated with water or methanol excess at heating, for example, to 50-55 C, separated and dried under vacuum. Method provides decrease of low-boiling, inflammable and toxic organic solvents amount used.
