FIELD: mechanical engineering; resistance seam welding. SUBSTANCE: spring device with spring element for pressing onto at least one roller electrode is used to provide static electrode force. This force is changed nonuniformly at change of deflection of roller electrode. Value of adjustable deflection is set depending on thickness of sheets to be welded and type of welding joint. Proposed device has spring device in form of several spring elements which can act successively onto roller electrode at an increase in its deflection. At deflection of roller electrode less than preset value, static electrode force is provided by one of spring elements, and if adjustable deflection exceeds preset value by combined operation of spring elements.
