FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves standard vertically arranged capillary pipette containing blood sample, photoelectric unit with electromagnetic radiation source and photodetector placed in front of each other on a pipette diameter in its working portion, electromagnetic radiation source power supply source, photodetector signal measurement and processing system. The device has additional photodiode with an additional power supply source, two elastic holders fixed on photoelectric unit. The photoelectric unit has casing of U- shaped cross-section formed by the main and two lateral walls arranged in parallel to pipette generatrix. The photoelectric unit is mountable on the pipette by means of elastic holders and movable along the pipette. Lateral walls of the casing have the same rectangular windows placed in front of each other which width is equal to the internal pipette diameter and their vertical axes of symmetry belong to the same plane as the pipette symmetry axis. Electromagnetic radiation source and photodetector are mounted on the external sides of the lateral casing walls along the windows. The main wall has an opening which diameter is equal to the internal diameter of the pipette. Photodiode is placed in the opening. The opening axis belongs to the plane passing through the upper window edges transecting the pipette axis an the right angle. The photodetector is valve photocell having rectangular working surface.
