FIELD: mechanical engineering; piston machines with crank mechanism. SUBSTANCE: proposed piston has head with grooves for compression and oil control piston rings on outer cylindrical surface engaging with piston base through pack of steel plate springs designed for conversion of kinetic shock energy taken by piston head into potential spring compression energy. Ring-lock is press-fitted into lower part of head. Ringlock consists of two semirings holding head and base at distance 2f with piston moving from top dead center to bottom dead center at intake stroke. Distance 2f is calculated by equation 2f = H-h1-h2 where H is height of standard solid piston, h1 is height of piston head, and h2 is height of piston base. EFFECT: improved reliability of crank mechanism owing to conversion of kinetic energy of dynamic loads into potential energy of compression of springs. 2 dwg
