FIELD: paint and varnish industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to modifying agents of rust used for cover of metallic surfaces without preliminary their cleansing from rust. The technical aim of the invention is the preparing activated lignin-base rust modifying agent to provide high chelate-forming ability to iron and other metals ions and the enhanced anticorrosive efficiency. Rust modifying agent comprises activated lignin obtained by activation of ceramic hydrolytic lignin balls in ceramic capacity and treated with a modifying composition. The latter involves amine-containing addition, water and has ammonia additionally. An organic aliphatic aminoalcohol is used as an amine-containing addition. The composition has the following components, wt. %: hydrolytic lignin, 77.0-87.0; amino- containing addition, 5.5-10.0; ammonia, 0.5-1.0; water, the balance. Rust modifying agent has iron oxide additionally and shows the following composition, wt.%: iron oxide, 1.0-2.0; activated lignin, the balance.
