SUBSTANCE: composite material that can effectively absorb and damp kinetic, thermal, and/or electrical energy with the exception of optical energy has base material capable of absorbing energy in combination with moment promoter in the form of compound enhancing dipole moment in base material, and moment promoter in the form of compound incorporating radical other than that of mercaptobenzothiazyl. Amount of moment promoter is 10-500 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of base material. Very thin and small items are manufactured from composite material. The latter is used in vibration-damping, sound-absorbing, shock-absorbing, vibration protective, electromagnetic wave absorbing, piezoelectric, and endothermic materials.
