FIELD: cellulose derivatives production. SUBSTANCE: initial stock, in particular, deresined and prehydrolyzed or exploded wood sawdust, is treated with acetic anhydride and acylation agent, in particular carboxylic acid with 11-15 carbon atoms in alkyl chain at acetic anhydride-to-carboxylic acid molar ratio 0.02756:(0.01665- 0.02756), in trifluoroacetic acid medium. Product is isolated by methanol extraction followed by treatment with peracetic acid, washing, and drying. Product can be used in production of plastics, films, and varnishes.
