FIELD: foundry, namely manufacture of casting molds and cores. SUBSTANCE: sand contains next ingredients (mass.%): alumochrome phosphate binder modified at synthesis stage with methylol ureas - (2-6); iron oxide waste material of metallurgical production - (1-4); silica base refractory filler - the balance. Alumochrome phosphate binder modified with (0.6-1.1) mass % of methylol ureas allows to decrease hygroscopicity and crumbling of casting molds and cores, to increase useful life period of composition and to avoid its softening after setting. EFFECT: improved properties of sand for making casting molds and cores. 2 tbl
