FIELD: metallurgy, namely continuous casting of ingots for making railway road rails. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of supplying from intermediate ladle steel containing carbon, manganese, chrome, vanadium to rectangular cross section mold; drawing ingot out of mold at variable rate; feeding cooling agent sprayed through jets to zone for secondary cooling of ingot while changing intensity of ingot cooling; cutting ingot by measured blanks; heating and rolling received blanks. Mean value of cooling agent flowrate along secondary cooling zone is set according to relation Qxl= K1(AxBXVxt)/(CxMnxCrxV), where Q - mean value of cooling agent flowrate along secondary cooling zone, cub.m/sq.m x h; l - length of secondary cooling zone, m; A,B - size of cross section of ingot,m; V- ingot drawing out rate, m/min; t - steel temperature in intermediate ladle, C; C,Mn,Cr,V - content of carbon, manganese, chrome and vanadium in steel respectively, mass%; K1 - empiric coefficient equal to (0.00009-0.04) min(%)(%)4/hxCxm; l= K2Q, where K2= (1.53-6.3)h - empiric coefficient characterizing thermophysical laws of cooling ingot faces along ingot. EFFECT: enhanced quality of continuously cast ingots, increased yield of ready rails due to improved macrostructure of ingots. 1 tbl
