FIELD: foundry engineering. SUBSTANCE: method is aimed to enhance productivity of continuous casting and equipment durability, as well as reduce metal losses. In the process of continuous casting metal feeds into crystallizer under the level through a casting nozzle, metal discharge is controlled, slab is shaped in crystallizer and drawn out of it with varying speed. Ingot is kept and guided in a secondary cooling zone. Ingot is deformed by means of its reducing from broad sides throughout its thickness with the help of working walls and/or in a secondary cooling zone with the help of rollers movable in perpendicular direction to ingot. After metal feeding into crystallizer stops thickness of ingot drawn out of crystallizer reduces by means of reducing deformation. Deformation happens due to removing of broad working walls of crystallizer with certain speed. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 4 dwg, 1 tbl
