TANK GLASSMELTER Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: construction material industry. SUBSTANCE: tank glassmelter has burden loaders, load pocket, cooking and developing basins, main water cooled tubular member positioned for controlled extending into cooking basin. Main water cooled member is formed Z-shaped and is located in horizontal position longitudinally of load pocket and cooking space of tank glassmelter, perpendicular to end surface of load pocket, between burden loaders. Main water cooled member may be immersed into glass mass to adjustable depth. Ratio of area of cooled part of main water cooled member and area of glassmelter occupied with burden is 1:(0.1-0.07); ratio of immersion depth of main water cooled member into glass mass and depth of cooking basin is 1:(0.25-0.15); ratio of length of main water cooled member and length of glassmelter portion occupied with burden is 1:(1.1-0.9). Burden piles may be separated by means of additional floating water cooled member, which may be extended at controlled extent into cooking basin disposed above main water cooled member and having similar configuration. Tank glassmelter of such construction allows temperature fields and transverse convection glass mass flows in cooking portion of glassmelter to be regulated, as well as arrangement of burden piles over glassmelter area to be controlled and burden boundaries to be spaced from side walls by stabilized distance. EFFECT: provision for continuous glass production, prolonged service life of glassmelter by reduced corrosiveness of side walls, improved quality and increased amounts of manufactured product. 3 cl, 5 dwg
