REFRACTORY NOZZLE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: apparatuses for supplying melt metal into intermediate ladle of machines for continuous casting of bloom and slab billets. SUBSTANCE: refractory nozzle includes inlet opening with circular cross section and outlet opening - with cross section whose profile is restricted by part of circle with radius R and at least by one chord. Cross section area of outlet opening consists 0.2-1.0 of cross section area of its inlet opening; total length of conduit for passing metal exceeds 15 radius values of circle of above mentioned profile. Profile of cross section of outlet opening may be restricted by part of circle with radius R and by two chords inclined one relative to another by angle no more than 30 degrees and it may be like segment. Flat stream is formed in outlet opening; said stream is divided by two horizontal flows near bottom of intermediate ladle. It provides lowered kinematic energy of metal stream and prevent entrapping of surface slag to melt. EFFECT: enhanced quality and mechanical properties of billets. 4 cl, 7 dwg
