FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of chelating agents, sorbents and new materials. Fullerene and thionyl chloride are placed in autoclave in the mole ratio C60:SOCl2 = 1: (40-60) in argon atmosphere and dehydrated toluene is added. Mixture is heated to 90-110 C at stirring and kept for 6-10 h. Fullerene [60] sulfoxide of the general formula where C60 is allotropic modification of carbon; n = 1-3 is synthesized.
