FIELD: hydrometallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention aims at degrading silicate ores and utilizing metallurgical slags as well as at creating low-waste plant for production of copper and zinc via processing of refused slags issuing from copper-smelting production. Preliminarily crushed mineral is mixed with sulfuric acid and then calcium fluoride (activator) is added. Resulting mixture is heated to temperature between 80 and 320 C and aged for some time. Calcium fluoride can be substituted by naturally occurring mineral: fluorite containing 20% calcium fluoride. EFFECT: reduced expenses on reagents, reduced power consumption, and simplified equipment. 3 ex
