FIELD: carbon materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to using powder metallurgy for synthesis of novel carbon forms, in particular fullerene, metallofullerites, and fullerene- containing composites, which are of value as accumulator electrodes, superconductors, magnetic thermometers, imaging devices, optoelectronic devices, medicaments, as well as intermediates of diamonds, diamond films, and wear-resistant materials. Synthesis procedure: preparing iron/carbon blend with graphitizing additives, compacting parts, and caking within temperature region of existence of alpha- and gamma-phases. Method enables performing solid-phase metallofullerite synthesis in the stage of powdered products' caking at relatively low temperatures, wherein all advantages of powder metallurgy are realized. Method also allows elimination of deformation accompanying formation of liquid phases. EFFECT: expanded possibilities of powder metallurgy in the carbon material area. 1 tbl, 2 ex
