FIELD: production of superhard materials; devices for building-up ultrahigh pressures in production of superhard materials from diamond powder and cubic boron nitride. SUBSTANCE: proposed device includes coaxial matrices with central recesses and working taper surfaces which are fastened by supporting rings, container with specimen and heater located in central recesses; it has coaxial projections on taper surfaces at ratio of diameter of top of first (from central recess) coaxial projection to diameter of this recess between 1.4 and 3.0 and ratio of diameters of tops of each subsequent coaxial projection to previous one between 1.2 and 2.0; lateral surface of supporting ring is provided with chamfer on side of matrix at angle of 45 to 50 deg. ; working surface of matrices consists of truncated cones changing successively one into another; points of change lie in bases of coaxial projections; ratio of cone angles of working surfaces on side of central to each subsequent recess ranges from 0.94 to 0.99.
