FIELD: production of hydrous silica gels containing boron and alkali metal compounds; manufacture of composite materials; coats, adhesive, etc. SUBSTANCE: hydroxide of alkali metal, boric acid or its salt are introduced into silica hydrosol in amount ensuring the following molar ratio: : components are mixed at Reynolds number not higher than 150; polysilicate system thus obtained is kept at temperature of 0 to 100 C till forming of gaseous stereostructure at strength (Young" modulus) higher than 20•103 Pa. EFFECT: enhanced strength of product to about ~50•103 Pa; facilitated procedure.
