FIELD: oil producing industry, particularly, methods of development of oil deposits with use of waterflooding or steam-heat stimulation. SUBSTANCE: method of oil deposit development by waterflooding and limiting of water inflow to high-permeability formations with the help of gel-forming composition based on methyl cellulose, includes injection of fringe of said composition with its displacing into formation by injected water, with formation of gel. Said composition displaced by water is injected into injection well, well is shut-in for gel formation and then connected for injection. Fringe of said composition is injected into producing wells hydrodynamically communicated with injection well and displaced into formation by oil. Wells are shut-in for gel formation and then put into operation. Gel-forming composition based on methyl cellulose contains, wt.%: methyl cellulose, 0.5-2.0; at least one component of group including carbamide, 2.0-20.0; ammonium or potassium, or sodium thiocyanate, 0.1-10.0; water, the balance. Method provides for increase of oil recovery due to regulation of processes of waterflooding or steam-heat stimulation of formations and limiting of water inflows with complex treatment of injection and producing wells in highly nonuniform formations with temperature from 50 to 200 C with use of gel-forming composition.
