FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of rare and rare-earth metal alcoholates that are the raw for synthesis of different structural ceramic materials, catalysts and catalytic compositions. Method involves the use of metal and alcohol. As a rule, metal is dissolved in mixture of chlorine and organic amide or nitrile at temperature 10-90 C, in chlorine concentration 0.1-10 mole/l followed by addition of a corresponding alcohol. Usually, amide or nitrile is removed from the prepared alcoholic solution and anhydrous gaseous ammonia is added. Method involves the use of more available reagents.
