FIELD: extraction of zirconium contained in secondary raw material. SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in oxidation of zirconium in non-aqueous solution. Chlorine is used as oxidant. Amide of organic acid is used as solvent. Oxidation is performed at chlorine concentration of 0.05-8 mole/l and oxidation temperature of 0- 80 C; used as amide of organic acid is N,N′ dimethyl formamide or N,N′ dimethyl acetamide. Specific rate of dissolving zirconium is 85-90 mg/sq cm/min. Proposed method increases rate and completeness of dissolving of zirconium-containing materials (up to 45-50 g/l) without evolution of explosive gases. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 3 cl, 4 ex
