METHOD OF SMELTING FERROSILICOMANGANESE Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2190683 C1

FIELD: metallurgy; production of ferrosilicomanganese in ore-smelting furnaces. SUBSTANCE: method includes regular supply of charge to ore- smelting furnace, regular proportioning of change components with the aid of proportioners, melting the charge, control of current intensity and voltage at low-voltage side of furnace transformers, regular tapping of melt and charge, and pouring. In the course of smelting of alloy, relationship of current intensity and voltage corresponds to the following dependence: where J is current intensity at low-voltage side of transformers, kA; U is linear voltage at low- voltage side of transformers, V; M is flow rate of charge fed to furnace per day, kg/min; H is level of furnace top relative to hearth of furnace bath equal to 1.8-2.0 m; C is content of carbon-containing materials in change equal to 12.1-14.6 mas.%; З is content of ash and volatile agents in carbon-containing materials equal to 1.2-1.8 mas. %; Ф is fraction of carbon-containing material in change equal to 12-18 mm; SiO2 is content of silicon oxide in change equal to 20-24 mas. %; Mn is content of pure manganese in manganese concentrate equal to 42-44 mas. %; m is empirical magnitude taking into account pulverized state of fraction of carbon-containing material in change equal to 2-4 mm; n is empirical magnitude taking into account amount of by-products in quartzite equal to 1.2-1.8 mas. %; K is empirical coefficient characterizing the physico-chemical laws of smelting ferrosilicomanganese equal to 0.0027-0.0068, kA. %-min/V. mm.kg.m. EFFECT: increased extraction of manganese and silicon in melt; enhanced stability of placing electrodes of furnace in charge; increased output of furnace; reduced power requirements. 2 cl, 1 tbl, 1 ex
