FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: gear for automatic measurement of linear dimensions of articles has datum measurement surface and hinged measurement lever. Gear is supplemented with linear displacement transducer which measurement rod rests against measurement lever, case capable of axial movement, electromagnet which anchor is coupled to case of linear displacement transducer, controlling computer, transportation mechanism, electric motor which shaft is kinematically coupled to transportation mechanism, first, second and third position pickups whose outputs are correspondingly connected to first, second and third inputs of controlling computer. Fourth input of the latter is connected to output of linear displacement transducer, first output of this unit is coupled to electric motor, its second output is coupled to electromagnet and its third output is output of gear.
