FIELD: precision measurement of motion of extended objects, for example, speed of motion if cables, wires and rolled products. SUBSTANCE: method includes operations performed in such succession that linearly increasing signal whose derivative is proportional to change in speed may be separated; speed of response is determined by distance between sensors which may be rather small and by absence of operations with signals pertaining to calculation of average statistic characteristics. Proposed method includes operations for amplification of two signals recorded by two sensors located along moving object. After performing operation of adjustable delay of signal, operation of subtraction of this signal from signal of second sensor is conducted Then, this signal is differentiated and difference of signals is divided by derivative signal. Provision is made for control of ratio of magnitude of delay corresponding to magnitude of speed. EFFECT: high accuracy of measurement; enhanced sensitivity. 6 dwg
