FIELD: organic chemistry of heterocyclic compounds, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of 2-(2-furyl)-1,3-dioxolane (furolane) that is used as an intermediate compound in the fine organic synthesis and in agriculture as a substance showing the growth-regulating activity. Method involves the interaction of ethylene glycol with furfurol in the presence of an acidic catalyst and process is carried out under condition of vacuum distillation in the mole ratio ethylene glycol : furfurol : catalyst = 1: (1.33-1.11) : (0.00013-0.0002), respectively, and water formed in a process is removed from the reaction medium by azeotropic distillation with furfurol.
