FIELD: television engineering; stereoscopic television. SUBSTANCE: method using raster ways of separating stereo-mate picture frames includes reception of video signals carrying information about stereo-mate frames, generation of parallax images from these signals in the form of alternating vertical strips, reproduction and separation of parallax picture; in the process frame video signals are converted into digital form and then digital information is split by means of video processor into vertical strips whose width when displayed on television-set screen equals that of linear raster slit, and four vertical strips in left-hand frame of picture are replaced by vertical strips of first stereo-mate frame bearing respective numbers; parallax picture is viewed through linear raster featuring controlled optical density of separating strips. EFFECT: enhanced compatibility of television facilities. 2 cl, 4 dwg
