FIELD: metal-working industry for steel and ferroalloys, ore chemical smelting, and other industries. SUBSTANCE: unit designed to supply with power three-phase furnaces of various power capacities such as those of basket-stove type used for smelting and processing steel and alloys, ferroalloys, calcium carbide, calcium-silicon alloys, high-silicon, high-silica, and other materials has transformer, three electric-contact terminals of electrodes delta-connected through compensating dampers to transformer leads by means of parallel strings of water-cooled flexible cable and secured to brackets mounted through electric insulating material on bottom ends of vertical posts, top-mounted roller supports set in motion by means of drive together with reversible moving electrodes; flexible cable strings of extreme phases are provided with additional cable conductors uniformly arranged in strings together with main conductors over circumference or oval just as they are arranged in intermediate string phase; number of additional cable conductors depends on reduction of extreme-phase resistance compared with resistance of intermediate-phase string ranging between 20 and 80% in proportion to intermediate-phase reactance. Provision is made for reducing active and reactive losses, balancing power among three phases of current lead, enhancing stability of refractory lining of ladle-crucibles or baths of electric furnaces at the same time ensuring high-speed uniform smelting of charge in hearth.
