FIELD: powder-type fire extinguishers; applicable in extinguishing of any fires, including those on production process plants, combustible materials, etc. SUBSTANCE: fire extinguisher has body with fire-extinguishing powder and baffle cover, starting-locking device, discharge nozzle and gas source with means for gas supply, with gas-powder weight ratio from 1:0.2 to 1: 7. Gas source is communicated with cavity of powder body through siphon tube secured to baffle cover and having flow area equaling 0.05-0.2 flow area of discharge nozzle. Lower end of siphon tube is located at a distance from bottom of powder body not above 1/10 and no less than 1/50 height of fire extinguishing powder column. Discharge nozzle is made in the form of perforated tube with cap hermetically closing perforation and calked by calibrated shear pin. Ratio of perforation area to discharge nozzle flow area is 0.3-0.8. EFFECT: complete withdrawal of powder, higher efficiency of volume fire extinguishing due to increased flow rate of gas-powder mixture at initial moment after cap removal. 2 dwg, 1 tbl
