SUBSTANCE: method involves providing powder-type fire extinguishers using solid fuel gas generators as working gas source; supplying gas and powder mixture into object to be protected from fire or onto site to be protected for time less than powder settling time. Apparatus has powder-type fire extinguishing module, which is main actuating unit in automatic and independent fire extinguishing systems. Apparatus has casing, gas generator placed inside casing, cavity with fire extinguishing powder, aerator with pipes provided with circumferential perforations and valves, spray nozzle and apparatus attachment unit. Aerator is dynamically connected to gas generator including ignition unit and chamber with solid fuel charge, which is arranged in spaced relation to cavity wall on grid, and filter. Method and apparatus provide for intensified supplying of fire extinguishing powder to fire zone. EFFECT: increased efficiency and enhanced reliability in operation. 4 cl, 4 dwg
