FIELD: polymer materials. SUBSTANCE: modifying additive for polyurethanes, which can be used as adhesives, varnishes, and structural materials, is prepared by dissolving variable-valence metal halide in ethanolamine at halide-to-amine molar ratio 1:(5- 10), which leads to twice increased lifetime of polymer product, 3-5-fold increased abrasion resistance, and by 20% improved thermomechanical properties, whereas physicochemical characteristics such as Shore hardness, breakage strength, ball drop resilience, and specific bulk resistance retain unchanged. EFFECT: improved consumer's quality. 2 tbl, 31 ex
