FIELD: chemical technology, ecology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to utilization of sulfur dioxide and can be used in metallurgy and chemical industry for processing gases containing up to 1% of sulfur dioxide. Method of sulfur utilization from technological gas involves gas scrubbing from impurities and chemical treatment of sulfur dioxide to obtain sulfur-containing compound. Chemical treatment is performed with ferric (III) sulfate aqueous solution of the composite Fe(OH)SO₄ with iron content 60 g/dm³ at pH = 0.5-3. Invention ensures to expand assortment of sulfur-containing compounds useful for utilization in manufactures and decrease sulfur dioxide exhausts in atmosphere. EFFECT: improved method of utilization.
