FIELD: glassmaking. SUBSTANCE: liquid glass is prepared by water-mediated heat treatment 90-100 C of silicate block. It is subjected to dispersing and mechanical activation on ball mill until particles with size ≤ 0.07 mm are obtained, which are loaded into reactor with water at 90-95 C and subjected to vibration-accompanying stirring. Glass melting is effected for 30 min after the start of boiling using no additional heating. Solution is then poured into tightly sealed container and settled during 24 h. Thus prepared silicate solutions can be used in welding engineering as binder in electrode-manufacture process. EFFECT: reduced silicate block dissolution time, improved quality of liquid glass, and reduced power consumption. 2 tbl, 5 ex
