FIELD: welding technology. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of coating material, supply of prepared coating material and electrode rods to pressure chamber and their molding. In so doing, coating material is continuously entrained and compacted by auger with variable spacing of its flights along axis of electrode rods advance supplied through central channel. Device for method embodiment has body with longitudinal ribs. Device body accommodates auger with variable spacing of flights. Auger is rotated by electric drive through gear. Auger other side is rotated in support. Coating material is passed through support segments. Adjacent to device body is pressure chamber accommodating sizing die. Auger has internal channel for passage of rods. Axis of said channel coincides with axes of rods and die hole. Body carries funnel for loading prepared noncompacted coating material. Auger channel has tube which is changed according to rod diameters.
