FIELD: ceramics. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to ceramics based on zirconium dioxide stabilized by yttrium oxide with small sodium and potassium fluoride additives, said material being prepared by chemical precipitation from salt solutions. Method involves caking in the cubic phase region followed by quenching to form transformable tetragonal phase (t'), which promotes improvement of thermomechanical properties: thermal shock resistance to 450-500 C, microhardness to 14000-15000 MPa, static bend strength to >400 MPa, critical stress intensity factor 7-8 MPa/m, particle size of zirconium oxide being 50-70 mcm. EFFECT: improved thermomechanical properties allowing operation under elevated thermal loadings. 2 cl, 1 tbl
