EQUIPMENT TO OBTAIN SEMIFINISHED PRODUCTS FROM ALUMINIUM FOAM Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

Abstract RU 2194231 C2

FIELD: metallurgy, production of aluminium foam articles used in mechanical engineering and construction industry. SUBSTANCE: equipment to obtain semifinished products from aluminium foam includes heating chamber with movable bottom coming in the form of grids made of heat-resisting material with low heat capacity, lined with metal mesh on top. Bottom of heating chamber is additionally fitted with forming unit having shape of thin-walled frame with sharpened edge facing grid and piston mounted for vertical displacement or made fast to frame. Configuration of frame corresponds to configuration of perimeter of lower part of finished article and configuration of piston bottom corresponds to configuration of upper part of finished article. Frame and piston have mass securing formation of pressure not less than 0.1 kg/sq.mm on frame edge and sufficient to achieve specified density of finished article over bearing surface of piston bottom. Forming unit is equipped with mechanism pushing finished article out. EFFECT: expanded range of articles, reduced number of unformed articles with rough, nonmachined upper surface and better quality of articles. 6 cl, 3 dwg
