FIELD: metallurgy, possibly manufacture of materials and articles for building, industry, transport, in other branches of national economy needing light-weight, strength, wear resistant, safety fillers and composition materials on base of such fillers providing sound- and heat insulation and protection against harmful influence of environment. SUBSTANCE: method for making semifinished products of foamed aluminum comprises steps of preparing mixture of powder of aluminum alloy and powder of blowing agent having decomposition temperature in range of solidus-liquidus temperatures of aluminum alloy powder; pouring mixture into vessel of aluminum alloy, compacting it by hot deformation, disintegrating prepared compacted blank by particles; performing heat treatment in such a way that to heat each separate particle until temperature sufficient for forming in its volume 50-98% of liquid phase at eliminating contact with other particles; soaking heated particle at such temperature until making ready semifinished product; further cooling it until solidus temperature at rate no less than 0.1C/s; final cooling of product.
