FIELD: rolled stock production. SUBSTANCE: method for compensating efforts or components of efforts caused by horizontal motion of rolls in rolling stands for cold and hot rolling of flat blanks including: rolling rolls, one or more backup rolls, hydraulic mechanisms for mounting rolls, load cells mounted in opposite side of gap between rolls and hydraulic mechanism for horizontally moving rolling rolls comprises steps of determining efforts acting at rolling process on one side of gap between rolls while supplying pressure to both tuning cylinders; in order to determine said efforts using readings of load cells. All axial efforts acting in rolling stand at rolling process are determined by means of computing device while taking into account axial efforts of rolling rolls determined according to pressure values in cylinders for moving rolling rolls. EFFECT: enhanced reliability for determining reactive efforts in housings of rolling stands without additional measuring points. 7 cl, 2 dwg
