FIELD: repairs and hardening of parts of metallurgical, machine building and other equipment. SUBSTANCE: method includes application of additive to part surface, heating of additive and place to be hardened. Additive is used in the form of carbon-silicon- titanium-aluminum-containing used contact mass of chemical production. Used contact mass of chemical production may have the following composition, mas.%: copper, 0.10-10.00; iron, 0.10-8.10; aluminum, 0.05-7.00; titanium, 0.01-5.0; carbon, 0.10-10.00; silicon, the balance. Heating is carried out up to temperature not below 70 C with current of high or industrial frequency by electric arc, plasma, gas burners. Technical result consists in that use of additive for parts hardening in the form of wastes of chemical production including used contact mass ensures higher depth and high hardness of hardened layer, reduction of expenses for parts hardening and utilization of wastes of chemical production.
