FIELD: dehydration of sediment formed in treatment of sewage by means of filter-presses , mainly shell-type and membrane filter-presses with use of water-soluble polyelectrolytes as coagulants in conditioning. SUBSTANCE: method consists in loading coagulated sediment of sewage in leaf filter at initial throughput of material being loaded no less than 0.3 cu.m of sediment per sq.m of filtering surface per hour. Main amount of water is separated from used coagulated sediment of sewage by hydrostatic filtration in leaf filter, after which partially dehydrated sediment of sewage is subjected to pressure filtration. Leaf filter is provided with filtrate drain system for draining filtrate at maximum speed of 1.0 m/s. EFFECT: updating of leaf filters at enhanced efficiency of loading process. 10 cl
