FIELD: powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: dispersion-strengthened composite material comprises copper, aluminum, carbon, and further comprises copper oxide, said components being used in the following ratio, wt%: aluminum 0.15-0.35; carbon 0.08-0.18; copper oxide 0.20-1.80, copper the balance. Method allows heat and electrical conductance of material and service life, as well as recrystallization of electric contacting parts manufactured from such material to be increased and may be used for high-current sliding contacts, current-conductive arc welding tips and the like. EFFECT: increased efficiency and wider range of composite copper-based materials having increased heat and electrical conductance factors. 5 tbl
