FIELD: testing joints for tightness. SUBSTANCE: method consists in successive loading of rolled joint by preset pressure ≪pi≫ of liquid at simultaneous reduction of pipe wall thickness over length of rolled band to ti- its critical magnitude at which leaks are revealed; then, experimental dependence pi = f(ti) is set for given type of joint and duration of its reliable operation is determined by known rate of corrosion of pipe material and by technical operating parameters. EFFECT: possibility of obtaining real information on tightness of rolled joints. 2 dwg
