FIELD: testing technology; testing rolled joints for tightness. SUBSTANCE: method consists in successive application of axial force to end face of pipe on side of rear surface of flange at preset pressure ≪pi≫ of liquid and temperature causing heating of external surface of flange, by Foucault currents for example, every time decreasing preliminarily thickness of pipe wall over length of rolled band to ti - its critical magnitude when leaks are revealed; then, experimental dependence pi = f(ti) for this type of joint, magnitudes of axial force and test temperature are set, after which duration of reliable operation is determined by known rate of corrosion of pipe material and technical parameters of operation. EFFECT: possibility of obtaining real information on overhaul periods of heat exchange apparatus at know technical parameters. 1 dwg
