FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machines and tools designed for mechanization of repair and maintenance of tracks. Proposed rail-drilling machine has mounting jig, electric drill and hold-down mechanism. U-shaped mounting jig is provided with mounting holes in side webs orientated in parallel with rail neck and getting into engagement with T-shaped guide columns found on frame in which electric drill is mounted, from side of cutting tool. Replaceable cover plates are installed at side of outer walls of side webs of jig. Hole made in central web of mounted jig is provided with replaceable bushing. Hold-down mechanism consists of lead screw, and grips to be installed on rail head. Surfaces of grips in contact with rail head provide intimate contact between grips and rail head surfaces and levers found on grips. Levers are coupled with lead screw to provide tight contact between ends of grips and inner walls of jig side webs and rail neck when screw is rotated. Pressure plates are arranged on levers at side contacting with said rail beck. Surfaces of replaceable cover plates of jig in contact with rail surface meet the shape of surface of rail in which hole is to be drilled. Invention makes it possible to dispense with application of physical loads for holding device in strictly horizontal position in process of drilling operations and it improves accuracy of positioning of cutting tool and enlarges operating capabilities.
