FIELD: testing equipment, measurement of hardness of materials. SUBSTANCE: proposed ultrasonic hardness gauge has rod acoustic resonator with indenter on one end, loading spring, piezoconverters anchored on resonator, oscillator, electronic processing and recording unit. Case of gauge has cylindrical internal surface. Bearing disc with spherical side surface which contacts internal surface of case, moves freely along it and turns in any direction is installed rigidly in acoustic rod resonator. Electronic processing and recording unit realizes program of automatic control over temperature change of initial frequency of resonator and has menu of selection of operational modes. EFFECT: raised measurement accuracy while establishing hardness of materials, expanded technological potential. 1 cl, 2 dwg
