FIELD: burning fuel; air-jet engines; gas-turbine, furnace and thermal power plants; domestic and industrial waste processing units. SUBSTANCE: method consists in forming air flow twisted in definite pattern and feeding fuel to the beginning of this flow, thus ensuring forming of fuel- and-air mixture whose motion is external in form of peripheral vortex in countercurrent flow relative to combustion products which forms internal motion in form of axial vortex; beginning of forming of fuel-and-air mixture and outlet of combustion products lie in one section which is perpendicular to axis of peripheral and axial vortices. Created additionally to flow of fuel-and-air mixture of main combustion chamber is flow of fuel-and-air mixture in primary combustion chamber; this flow is fired up and combustion products are directed to the beginning of forming of fuel-and-air mixture of peripheral vortex in way of its rotation; forming of fuel-and-air mixture , ignition and burning of this mixture are effected in peripheral vortex and afterburning and dilution of this mixture are effected in main vortex. Device for said method embodiment is made in form of vortex combustion chamber provided with fire tube , swirler and combustion product outlet passage and fuel injectors located in one section which is perpendicular to central axis of combustion chamber. In addition to main combustion chamber, said device is provided with at least one primary combustion chamber which is located in section perpendicular to central axis of fire tube of main combustion chamber and provided with fire tube, swirler, fuel injectors, ignition units and combustion product outlet passage directed tangentially relative to side surface of fire tube of main combustion chamber in way of rotation of flow. Primary combustion chamber is located after swirler (first version) or in one section with swirler (second version) of main combustion chamber.
